Systemic Conflict Analysis

Participants will be taken through a highly participatory, step-by-step approach to systemic conflict analysis. Through engaging discussions, participants will explore non-linear conflict dynamics and increase understanding of deep-rooted conflict dynamics. The case studies will come from the concrete working context of participants. The trainer will also consider trauma-sensitivity, conflict and gender-sensitivity during the process.

By the end of the four week online course participants will…

- become familiar with basic ideas of systems thinking and its advantages for a holistic approach to conflict transformation,
- know how to conduct a Systemic Conflict Analysis (SCA) (e.g. the different steps of the analysis, feedback loops etc.),
- know how to conduct a SCA on own real life examples/case studies,
- develop based on the analysis, ideas for strategic planning and identify first entry points for intervention.

The course is designed for all colleagues who are interested in understanding intractable or deep-rooted conflict dynamics and systems approaches to conflict analysis. Some experience in conflict analysis and traditional conflict analysis tools is desired, but not necessary. Participants are encouraged to bring their own conflict case studies.
