HEAT Essentials (2 days)

Organisations deploying staff to fragile and hostile environments carry a legal and moral duty of care. This two-day course gives participants the mindset, the preparation methods and the practical skills to recognise, avoid and respond to the security and medical incidents most likely to affect them.

The course is a condensed version of the S.A.F.E. three-day HEAT programme. It combines instruction with immersive practical exercises and structured debriefing, so participants leave having rehearsed their responses rather than only having heard about them.

Included in this price is coffee, cold drinks, both lunches and dinner
Not included in this price is lodging and breakfast. This can be arranged by S.A.F.E. at an additional fee.

On completion, participants will be able to:

*) Recognise their own stress responses and apply the OODA loop to decision-making under pressure
*) Apply de-escalation and rapport-building techniques in confrontational situations
*) Carry out a structured threat and risk assessment and contribute to a risk management plan
*) Take appropriate preventive measures in travel, transport and daily routine
*) Understand the dynamics of a kidnapping, the pressures on a hostage, and the factors that support survival and resolution
*) Apply remote first aid according to the MARCH protocol and hand over a casualty using MIST
*) Respond appropriately to a road accident, a hostile checkpoint and an active shooter incident

This is a Basic Course that requires no prerequisites.
