Acerca de

Frans Schram has over 18 years of experience in negotiation, mediation, intercultural dialogue and diplomacy. As a trainer, mediator (CEDR accredited) and researcher he frequently provides services to public sector organisations such as the EU institutions (main negotiation trainer 2012-2016), the German Foreign Office, the United Nations, rotating EU Presidencies, College of Europe, Institut National du Service Publique, NATO, GIZ, ZIF, various Diplomatic Academies worldwide, political foundations and NGOs, as well as to a number of private sector companies. He has been active in over 30 countries across 5 continents and has trained around 4500 professionals from 95 different nationalities.
From 2016 to 2018 he held the position of senior Dialogue Facilitator at the Berghof Foundation in Berlin, where he delivered methodological support to negotiation processes for both governments and non-state armed groups in contexts such as Afghanistan, Basque country, Colombia, Myanmar and Turkey. From 2012 to 2016, Frans was heading the Brussels office of the “Institute for Research and Education on Negotiation” at the ESSEC Business School and delivered more than 150 negotiation/dialogue seminars for the EU institutions in Brussels and in missions to numerous countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
Previous acumen in negotiation, training and diplomacy was built up during working experiences at the Clingendael Institute in the Hague, the European Commission in Brussels and the Netherlands embassy in Colombia.
As a researcher, he focuses on international negotiation and mediation efforts, as well as the nexus between natural resources and conflict.
Frans holds a MA in Dutch, European and International Law from the University of Maastricht, the Universidad Autónoma in Madrid and the Stellenbosch University in South Africa. He speaks fluent English, Spanish, French, German, and Dutch (mother tongue).
