Description

The HEAT program is a five-day training course where participants will learn how to effectively manage critical or emergency situations while deployed in hostile environments, through realistic simulations.
Methodology: The training combines a theoretical foundation with practical field exercises, focusing on real-life scenario simulations through role-playing and drills. 75% of the course is practical, while 25% is theoretical.

Content of the course:
- Awareness of Threats and Risk management.
- Self-Defense. Response to Sexual Assaults
- First aid and Basic life support in the absence of medical personnel.
- Orientation, map reading and GPS navigation.
- Defensive Driving. Off-Road 4×4 Driving.
- Driving in convoy.
- Checkpoint Navigation and Roadblocks: Managing Vehicle Inspections and Secure Passage
- Weapons, Mines, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and Unexploded Ordnance (UXO).
- Run. Hide. Fight.
- Stress Management and Resilience. Emotional Regulation.
- Travel Security: Protection and Safety Procedures for Vehicle Transport.
- Managing Threats in Crowds, Demonstrations, Protests, and Riots.
- Kidnapping and Hostage Survival.

Objectives

This training will fulfill the following objectives:

· To provide participants with the necessary skills to deal with situations in which armed conflicts arise, their key actors, and their impact on civilians.

· To improve participants' capacity in conflict resolution and protection of civilians in armed conflicts.

· To strengthen the competence and confidence of participants to deal effectively with high-risk or critical situations, as would be the case when working in peacekeeping missions.

Preconditions

• Willingness and ability to work under pressure
• Participants do not need to be in optimal physical condition, but any existing injuries or health issues must be communicated in advance so instructors can take them into consideration
